Diana Edward Lukumai, Miss World Tanzania 2016 and currently the face of Miss Talent
Global 2022 accompanied Dr Fred Koske, a patient seeking specialised treatment in
Mumbai, India. She speaks to us about her one month stay abroad
"My name is Diana Edward Lukumai the Miss World Tanzania 2016. I am also the reigning
Miss Talent Global (MTG) 2022 and the brand ambassador at Viva Serenity, a medical tourism
Company affiliated to MTG.
My journey started on 30th May, 2022 when I arrived in Kenya from my home country, Tanzania.
I was warmly received at the airport by Sheila Nabaya, a former Miss Tourism who gave me a tour
of the beautiful city of Nairobi.
The 1st of April was a great day as it marked my unveiling party as I was crowned Miss Talent Global.
It was also a very special day for Dr Fred Koske who was leaving for Mumbai, India for advanced
treatment. It also served as a farewell party for Dr Koske. My first assignment was to accompany
him to Mumbai as he sought treatment. This was under the 'beauty for a cause' arm of Miss Talent
Global.

The day was packed with exciting events that were streamed live on the various Miss Talent Global
social media platforms. There were a lot of talent showcasing, which included activities like; swimming,
singing, poetry, drawing as well as dancing. The MTG Band was also on standby to entertain the guests.
The event was also graced by former and reigning beauty queens and the reigning Mr University Kenya.
Dr Koske and his team of nurses and staff from Viva and Precise Healthcare were also present.
After a sumptuous lunch, we headed to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport escorted by Dr Koske's
family, the reigning Mr and Miss University Kenya, former Miss Tourism, and other well-wishers. The
three of us, Dr Koske, his accompanying nurse, Lydia and I arrived safely the next day and were
received by a team from the hospital who took us directly there.
My assignment included accompanying the patient to hospital and encouraging him and also meeting
other beauty queens in addition to viewing beautiful Mumbai. About three days after we arrived,
Dr Koske underwent Stem Cell Therapy. Shortly thereafter, his therapy sessions commenced. His doctor,
Dr Alok Sharma advised him that he needed therapy every day for a period of six hours, six days a week
for six months for him to reap optimal benefit from the Stem Cell Treatment.
Since we had not raised enough money for Dr Koske's treatment by the time we left for India,
we continued with online fundraisers to assist him go through the rehabilitative treatment to
enable him gain functionality of his body. As Dr Koske continued with his therapy sessions, we
started noting some progress, like writing on his own for the first time since he suffered the
spinal injury. We would share these videos with our social media audience to push for more funds
to help him continue therapy as it was slowly gaining fruit.
When I wasn't keeping the patient company, I would take time off to visit. A memorable place we
visited in the city of Mumbai was the Gateway of India, which is an arch monument built in the
early 20th Century. It was erected to commemorate the landing of King.
To enhance brand visibility, I always wore a sash labelled, Miss Talent Global and a crown. This
attracted the attention of the different people I encountered with a good number requesting
to take pictures with me, effortlessly pushing one of my goals - global recognition. We also got an
opportunity to visit the Mumbai Beauty Expo where we were lucky to get a VIP pass.
To get a better picture of how Dr Koske was doing, I interviewed his doctor, Dr Sharma who was
gracious enough to accommodate me with my videographer. He ran us through the historical
background of Neurogen Institute and explained to us about the services they offered. He also
told us about Dr Koske's progress. I also got the chance to meet Manya Sigh, an Indian beauty
queen and we discussed possible prospects of working together.
After a month in India, it was time to come back home to Africa. I bid Dr Koske farewell and
wished him the best as he continued with his therapy sessions in India. I arrived to Nairobi to a
grand welcome."
