Viva FC under the watchful eye of Coach George works closely together with Viva Serenity to help improve the lives of young boys from disadvantaged backgrounds. When I first meet George with the kids during a function organised by Miss Talent Global, an affiliate company, it is easy to see that he has a good relationship with the kids he is grooming and mentoring through sports to be productive members of our society.
As he talks to me about the 68 children he is training, his passion about them growing beyond their love for football is evident. The kids are happily playing and are joined by two of George's biological children who have also tagged along their cousin. It's hard to tell them apart as all the kids are dressed in matching Viva t-shirts.
"Most of the children under my watch are from needy homes; some are from dysfunctional families where the parents are probably drunkards and have no time for their children while the bigger bulk, about 80percent are kids of single mothers who are struggling to put food on the table," explains George. "Most of these kids do not have anything to eat at home and rely on our feeding programme, which is based in church. Thankfully well-wishers feed them and sometimes donate clothes and shoes to the kids," says George.

A fitness coach and trainer, George formed a fitness company whose main role was to develop talent. He organises friendly matches with various kids in the slums, which helps him spot the talented kids. He then links them up with various clubs where the kids play professionally. "One of my biological kids, Lesley Menya got a scholarship as a result of playing football and he 'pays his fees' from his talent," the proud dad narrates.
"There are also three other kids from Viva FC who have been awarded scholarships due to their talent in football and are fortunate to have their high school fees catered for," he further explains. The kids who are also highly disciplined are encouraged to participate in other sporting activities besides football. They are good in swimming, ball juggling, dancing, poetry and bible narrating.
To help him run the organisation, George is assisted by members of his biological family. "My kids are the managers; Timna Riziki who is 17 is the treasurer while my second born who is 19 is the administrator. My first born who is 22 is the manager while my last born, 15 and my wife are both directors," he narrates. My last born son also coaches the 7-year-olds.
"Talent can take one far and that is why we endevour to search for talented kids in the slums to give them a fair chance at life," he says in conclusion.
